A small stackable beech handled cup. This piece has been inspired by the revival of Brutalist architecture, employing classic Brutalist aesthetics like heavy forms and asymmetrical proportions, along with design philosophies embodied in the architecture including Form Follows Function and Truth to Materials.
Each item is entirely handmade, including the beech handles which have been individually shaped to fit each cup and riveted to the porcelain.
Emma Johnson specialises in slipcasting in porcelain at her Brighton studio. Her functional homewares are often based around architecture, incorporating precise, angular forms and a degree of buildability into the pieces.
Handwash only.
Materials: Stained porcelain with transparent glaze. Unglazed base. Beech lid with food safe finish and nickel silver rivets.
Dimensions: Approx 85 / 125 mm (d), 60 mm (h)
