Print depicting Hannah Starkey’s Wakey Tavern, 2022, 2022

Materials: Printed on smooth coated paper stock: 250gsm.
Dimensions: 280 x 356mm

Hannah Starkey’s (b. Belfast, 1971) work is dedicated to exploring women’s lives through photography. Creating meticulously choreographed images, Starkey presents moments of quiet introspection, social interaction, and political awakening where women step outside stereotypical gender tropes frequently used in photography.

For the current exhibition Hannah Starkey: Real Life at The Hepworth Wakefield, Starkey was commissioned to make a new body of work about young women in Wakefield. She collaborated with female students from Wakefield’s CAPA College – a flagship performing arts institution providing creative opportunities for young people in the region. Starkey’s new work features the students in Wakefield locations exploring ideas around beauty, community and belonging in relation to the pervasive influence of social media images.

The Hepworth Wakefield is a charity, all purchases and donations are vital to support our work.

We aim to dispatch most orders within 3 working days. Due to their fragile nature, artist editions and framed prints may take a little longer to dispatch.
