Given by the artist's family through the Art Fund, the Gift comprises a remarkable group of full-size working models, artworks, tools and archives that provide an invaluable opportunity for visitors to learn about Hepworth's working methods as well as her life and work.

With its nationally important collection of twentieth-century British art, featuring major works by Hepworth and her contemporary Henry Moore - also born in the district - The Hepworth Wakefield enhances the region's reputation as one of the world's leading centres for the appreciation and study of sculpture.

The Hepworth Wakefield Art Collection has continued to grow and diversify based on these founding principles. Today, new collecting policies are helping us address gaps and imbalances in the collection and secure acquisitions from some of the most exciting contemporary artists.
