Mini print depicting Barbara Hepworth's Winged Figure prototype, 1961-2, a key part of The Hepworth Family Gift, permanently installed at The Hepworth Wakefield. In 1961 John Lewis commissioned the Yorkshire-born artist to create a work that evoked common interest and ownership, which when completed, was placed 13 feet above the busy cross-section between Holles Street and Oxford Street.
Hepworth was known to be extremely proud of this work, commenting; "If the Winged Figure in Oxford Street gives people a sense of being airborne in rain and sunlight and nightlight I will be very happy."

Barbara Hepworth (1903–1975) is one of the most important artists of the 20th century. She was at the forefront of multiple avant-garde art movements, with wide-ranging interests that infused her work. Deeply spiritual and passionately engaged with political and technological change, Hepworth focused on the dynamic physical encounter with sculpture and how this could allow the viewer to both reflect on and alter their perceptions and experiences of the world.
