Grow your own sweetly fragrant 'sausages' from this evergreen, perennial climber.
Deliciously scented flowers open in late spring followed by curious sausage-shaped fruits. This climber is happy in most soils and is fully hardy.
It was selected by the designer Tom Stuart-Smith for The Hepworth Wakefield Garden and these seeds have been collected, prepared and packaged by the garden's dedicated team of Volunteers.
Sowing advice
Sow seeds at any time into seed sowing compost, pushing them down about 5mm. Keep slightly moist at 15c to 20c and wait for germination which could take a few weeks.
Pot up each individual seedling into a 9cm pot and grow on, before planting in a well-drained spot, or large tub. A trellis or support will be needed to help climber reach it's full height of around 8cm. To get the best harvest of sausage fruits, grow in a location which gets some sunshine.
